I've been in hospital for a few days after a bogus assesment where a bunch of medical people and some social worker basically backed me into a corner asking me all sorts of questions then decided I should be in hospital.

I've asked to leave So many times but they won't let me its total ball. They aren't taking my autism into account and don't realise how stressful and triggering all this is for me.

Please help me get out

  • Omg I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you get out soon! Am thinking of you and sending positivity your way.

  • Look on the bright side.

    Free food and accommodation.

I was out shopping in the city yesterday, and there were so many homeless on the streets begging for money and food in the freezing rain.

  • The NAS does have an in patient case work line. Perhaps you or a relative or friend need to call.

No, not a good idea for us to be in those places any longer than necessary and they MUST hold your ASD central to whatever else they do. We think differently, relate differently and our neurologies respond to meds differently. Everything needs looking at through the lense of ASD.

    Bless you

  • The following is from the Mind website that sets out the reasons why someone can be put into a hospital. Maybe when you speak to a solicitor or someone else, you could explain why you think these conditions weren't met.

    • you need to be assessed or treated for your mental health problem
    • your health would be at risk of getting worse if you did not get treatment
    • your safety or someone else's safety would be at risk if you did not get treatment
    • your doctor thinks you need to be assessed or treated in hospital, for example if you need to be monitored very regularly because you have to take new or very powerful medication. Otherwise, you may be asked to attend a hospital out-patient clinic.
  • This is some information I've found:

If you are under section 2, 3 or 37 you can:
o ask the Hospital Managers to discharge you,

o apply to a tribunal to appeal your section,

o get free representation from a mental health solicitor at a
    tribunal, and

o get help from an Independent Mental Health Advocate
    (IMHA).

If you are under section 2 or 3, your Nearest Relative can discharge
you. But your psychiatrist can prevent this if they think you are
    ‘dangerous’ to yourself or others.

If you are on section 2 and you want to appeal, you have to apply to
the tribunal within 14 days of being sectioned.

The following link is to a NAS page where you can search for nearby solicitors:

    https://www.autism.org.uk/directory

Maybe the best way to go about it would be to explain to a solicitor that you thought the initial process was unfair because you weren't allowed to answer properly?
