Hello, and what now? (Explicit language)

Im a 29 year old male from glasgow and feel as if I have had very little success with support or even taking seriously over many years.

Ive been attending help from multiple CPNs and general psychiatrists since 16, and other then depression and anxiety, autism was only brought up by 1 NHS psychiatrist way back when i was in my late teens, any sort of tests or diagnosis was postponed by no doubt me missing appointments which lead me to having to change therapists. I was also going through alot of drinking drug abuse and self abuse.

After years of losing friends, friendships, relationships and jobs. Im back at square one, same ***, different day. At 29 I was to attend a CPN fortnightly which usually was random days, at random times. Even if im on time i dont get seen till 10-15mins late. If im lucky they'll offer me a whole 20mins if Im lucky to explain myself and how i feel. (This message allready takin me an hour plus just recorrecting stuff and me sweatin buckets and shaking sharing this very vague info about myself, what the *** am I gonna manage in a situation like tht anyway). So if your still with us here CPN seems no use.

Now the main guy the actual psychiatrist sees me once every 3 month, he doesn't understand me, i talk to fast of somethin im am scottish for fucks sake. But i also on manage to get my feelings/thoughts or true grasp of things out in rants that he aint gona ever get his head around, he even has escorted me out his room on an occasion where i was really opening up, hes got worse social skills then me, this is also the same guy how saw me at 19 to start testing me then. After missing my CPN appointments (again) I know only see him every 3 month still and to take some meds. Last appointment involved him advising to stay on meds as per but contact local support or go online to find out about high functioning adults with ADS. (sounds like i been politely told to piss aff once more by the services)

Anyway im hear typin stuff please someone get back to me with anything info whatever. And apologies for the language but im interested in hearing some real storyes of adults gettin support. My experience is me and family geting no where with help. Soon as u question something here the docs, cpn, or staff all cover each others asses.

Please help

  • I'm sorry to hear your situation. Unfortunately you are not alone in not getting the understanding or support that you need. Also services for us are a postcode lottery and so some areas have more available support and some none. If you read around the forum you will see other people's lives are difficult too including those with mental health issues.  There is also advice about how to try to make our own lives more manageable. I don't have support at the moment. I hope it helps to know you're not the only one.
