New to the group

Hello,  I've recently registered on here and thought I would say hi!

We have an 11 year old son who has a range of learning and physical difficulties and asd. We are desperately trying to find some activities local to our area to encourage him to socialise in a safe environment. ( He has no social boundaries)

Are there any youth groups, activities  etc in the TR postcode that is accessible to children attending special schools?

Many thanks

  • Hello

    Welcome to the community!

You might also like to search on the Autism Services Directory here:

    http://www.autism.org.uk/directory.aspx

Here you will be able to search for social groups and activities in your local area.

(Just to let you know, we also merged your other post into this one as it was a duplicate post!)

    I hope that helps!

  • Hi NAS24396,

Scope often offers youth clubs and similar opportunities for families and young people to get together and socialise. Here is a link to their website (below,) perhaps you could give them a ring and see what they may have in your local area.

    https://www.scope.org.uk/

Another suggestion is to see what Autism charities there are in your local area as they often hold regular social events for families and youth clubs for young people too.

Also, your Local Authority should have a facility which they call the ‘Local Offer’ which is supposed to be a directory of all services (health, educational and recreational) for families living with SEN and/or disability. You may wish to therefore go on your local LAs website and see if you can locate their ‘Local Offer’ page which should have listings of opportunities and groups in your local area.

    Best of luck.
