Just to say hello

Hello  my name is Phil  i'm autistic  I am also dyslexic  look forward to speaking to new people on here  just thought I'd  say hello

  • It really is great that we get each other. My hubs has had extensive training via the military and has learned to meet people and make friend much easier than I. So we have a few friends. Happydora, I know what you mean. People say yhey are intinimated or even say I'm rude to tgem when I never said anything rude or offensive. 'Normal' people take more stock in demeanor rather than content. Why? It doesn't make any sense.

  • hello proud dad, thanks for your reply.  I am 45 and could not function without my ipad.  its so had to make friends, even talk to someone. It's kind of easier here but I have to check what I say as I take things the wrong way all the time.

  • Hi happyDora. I have never done anything like this either but have no friends and don't socialise at all.

I too have dyslexia and use an iPad to type for me. Amazing how you find ways to adapt.

how old are you if you don't mind me asking

  • thought I would say hi as I am finding even being on this forum rather odd... I don't socalize or have any friends.  my family thought it a good idea to try chatting in a forum...so hello

i must apologise for my writing as I have dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia... I am waiting to be tested, hoping to get answers and help.

  • It must be great to have people who "get" you. My son doesn't yet as he is too young

  • My 16 year old son has been a full time college student for 2 years. He recently transferred to a college with a longer commute time. Since this is more stressful, we moved him in as a roommate with the oldest daughter (24). We just recognize when each other needs some space alone. We are all very blunt and straight forward so nothing is ever left unsaid or lingering and we all appreciate that. Also we don't have the stress of being forced to engage in small talk with each other. The transition from home to work is often difficult as the rest of society doesn't like the way we like to communicate. So that's hard, but all in all it is far more comfortable at home, relaxing. It is truly our happy place.

  • Hi Charlene,
