Not diagnosed

Hi - I’m a 58 year old female. 
I had my autism assessment on Monday. (waited 18 months for the assessment ) got my verbal results yesterday- no diagnosis 

main reasons - “ I communicated well” and was “very nice” 

I have been a trained nurse for over 40 years in the NHS. I tried to explain that I have learned all my social skills ( conversation and gestures) in that time. 
I am very disappointed and deep down I know this is incorrect 

should I dispute this ? 
has anyone disputed their non diagnosis and been successful?

  • Hi JulieA I’m sorry to hear you are disappointed with your non diagnosis. Did they expand on the way you communicated well, and how you are very nice? 
    I am also a nurse for a long time and my diagnosis report says I am very pleasant and communicate well… but it also then goes on to describe my lack of eye contact, fast talking, inability to hold a reciprocal conversation very well and my flat effect. I wonder if you mask very highly? Did you explain any other things you do such as stimming, special interests, difficulty with change? It might be you weren’t able to ‘sell yourself’ due to masking. Or the assessor wasn’t able to see your traits. I would definitely ask about the outcome with them.
