Not diagnosed

Hi - I’m a 58 year old female. 
I had my autism assessment on Monday. (waited 18 months for the assessment ) got my verbal results yesterday- no diagnosis 

main reasons - “ I communicated well” and was “very nice” 

I have been a trained nurse for over 40 years in the NHS. I tried to explain that I have learned all my social skills ( conversation and gestures) in that time. 
I am very disappointed and deep down I know this is incorrect 

should I dispute this ? 
has anyone disputed their non diagnosis and been successful?

  • so not everyone at assessment does get diagnosed - they could well have many traits but just don't score enough on how the DSM-5 is set, so that could be a factor

    In addition, I've seen many others on here who got a no at first assessment which was over-turned on their second assessment - so it's quite possible.

    I think other have suggested you go back and challenge - or if you have the means or insurance/employer who may cover then pay for a private diagnosis - may be quicker.  As not sure which route you have gone.

    Most people know - with or without a diagnosis - for me it was important to get my Autism and ADHD diagnoses, so I can understand you want to pursue this. So wish you well !
