New Here, Female, 48 and Not Diagnosed

Hi Everyone Wave tone2

so yes I’ve probably known for ages I’m autistic and after the staff conference where literally all the noise, smells, chaos, ridiculously bright lights, abstract tasks and small talk almost wiped me out I decided to go for a diagnosis. I’m in the UK and probs need to wait another 12 months Shrug tone2female sign

it’s been liberating in some ways and I can now stop trying to find answers as to why I have chronic anxiety…seems I can now start looking after myself. Lots of fab advice on here and it’s nice to read relatable topics.

never written on a forum before but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. I never do anything like this, generally keep myself to myself but I’m hoping I can read and share some of my experiences as I do like to info dump and help when I find a topic I know about. Thanks for reading and hoping to share info and experiences with everyone.

Bye for now Wave tone2

  • Ha ha, small talk is my worst nightmare ... But then the downside for me is that I take a long time to really get to know - Other people seem to want to get the full measure of you from this ridiculous social dance - I find it so odd

I also say what's on my mind/just pops into my head, which is sometimes not ideal when meeting someone new

  • Hi Wave tone2 yes I’m the same, let’s just get to the point so we can get on with our tasks. I’m always trying to find the hidden meaning in conversation as I find some people don’t say what they mean or mean what they say.

Ive felt the other persons discomfort when saying what pops into my head, but I only mean to get to the point. Like there’s no other way to say what’s in my head…I’m unable to dress it up into something more palatable. Thanks for replying Pray tone2
