Diagnosed today

Hi,

I just received my diagnosis today. I am 53 years of age and this was not something I expected to happen to me.

I don't know how to process it to be frank. I've always been told I'm a bit odd, sensitive and antisocial.

I have to process this. Has anyone else here got any tips on how to process it?

Cheers,

Amanda

  • Hi and welcome to your community, I don’t really have any tips apart from try to take it slowly. I was diagnosed last year at the age of 57. It takes a long time to process it all. ( if we ever do)

Remember you are still you and have always been autistic. I still mourn the person I might have been, the fact is that we can’t alter the past.  There has been situations in the past that I now see with more clarity. Every day you will notice a little bit more of what makes you autistic.
