Hi, 

5 years ago (at the age of 50 ) after much research i suddenly realised i had autism, the world finally made sense, i saw my doctor who agreed with me but said an official diagnosis in my area would be extremely hard to get and as i dont work did i really need one.

I have never reached to anything like this before but i am so alone.

Please tell me someone if you need an official report to be here.

I cant break any rules.

  • Welcome to the forum   As others have said, you don’t need a diagnosis to be here, although if you would like one, your doctor should check you meet the criteria through preliminary testing and refer you for assessment. There are free tests online that can indicate if assessment for ASD would be worth pursuing.

    No matter what, you can be part of this community. 

    I am in my 60s, F, diagnosed a year ago.

    I'm in my 60's too and was diagnosed at the age of 50.

    Welcome and enjoy yourself here, don't worry about asking what might seem to be stupid questions, we've all got them and we've all asked them and mostly been reassured that we're autistcially normal, whatever that is, lol.
