Newly diagnosed at 37 in Reading, UK

Hi there. I'm a 37 year old wife and mother, recently diagnosed as autistic.

I've always felt I didn't fit in, struggled to make friends and maintain relationships. I'm really hoping to meet some like minded people and form some meaningful connections.

Big fan of Lord of the Rings, baking, zombies, cats, crime/history documentaries, puzzles, colouring books, toadstools, the list goes on...

Would love to finally fit in and not feel so lonely.

Based in Twyford in Reading

Parents
  • Hello, nothing wrong with liking cats.

They like and have their own routines, the need their own space and just walk away without a fuss when they need to. The give you space too.

They show their feelings clearly, fear, affection, annoyance, curiosity.

They communicate through body language and vocal cues that are quite consistent with little ambiguity. Few emotional shifts, no implied meaning, no social pressure.

Eye contact is not such a big thing. Plus they are tactile.

I always try to work out what they are thinking.

By puzzle, do you include jigsaws? Have you ever tried doing one upside down. I did a 500 piece one like that once when I was bored.
