Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!
I’m Squeak, and I’m still learning everything there is to know about autism. I was diagnosed this October just gone.

I’m naturally quite shy, especially around new people, but once I warm up I’m friendly, chatty in my own quirky way, and a bit eccentric (in a fun way). I’ve always felt a little different from everyone else, and while that’s something I’ve struggled with I’m trying harder to embrace it more and see it as a strength rather than something to hide.

I love music, reading, and playing games — they’re my comfort zones and the things that help me unwind. I’ve also recently gotten into drawing and painting. I’m honestly terrible at it so it's something I half enjoy but half hate.

I’m here to meet people who understand and learn more about autism.

  • Hi Im Jo. I am in early 40th and I  was recently diagnosed with both Autism amd ADHD.  Thats explaining my feeling about feeling diffwrent then others.  Im shy on the beggining as well, sometimes noSlight smileable to speak at all. I really would like to meet people like me. Someone who finelly understand Slight smile I just registered myself on this website and I dont even know how to operate with it.

  • The game I play most is Sims 4, and my other favourites that I've played more than once are Fallout 4, Hogwarts Legacy, and Assassins Creed Origins, Odyssey & Valhalla. A few months ago I played BioShock and BioShock 2 and I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed Shadows, and I'll probably play all 3 of those again some time in the future. I also sometimes play chess and Cluedo on my XBox.

There are some other games I've enjoyed that I probably wouldn't play again, which include Fable 2 and 3, Lego Star wars, Lego Harry potter, and Sherlock Holmes Chapter one.

I have a kindle Unlimited subscription, so I can read lots of books. I enjoy sci-fi, time travel, dystopian future, thrillers, humour and rom-com, and some historical novels. My current favourite authors are Shawn Inmon and RR Haywood.

  • I actually made a Simpsons hit and run post fairly recently if you’re interested. Yeah I also always go back to the game it’s just so much fun and I never get fed up with it! If you want to see the Halloween opening you could set your ps2 or pc to Halloween date if possible maybe and it might show up. Ahh I’m jealous you have the pink ps2 and SpongeBob controllers! I have to get the controllers and I think I need to get another ps2 but they only seem to seem the black ones. But I have for pc too anyway.

Yoshi is just super adorable! It’s his big round nose and chubby cheeks and cute smile I think! I’ve actually been lucky enough to have a trophy with his face on the Mario kart app and it’s so cute! I’ve never played Pokémon but it does look quite fun so I’ll probably look into getting it at some point. Ah I love my switch 2, I mean you can still play regular switch games on but the screen is bigger and the frame rates seem much better as well in my opinion. You can also get add ons for regular switch games exclusively for switch 2 as well!

Just treated myself to the seasons and island expansions on sims 4 so been playing around with them a lot as well! I’m trying to make out what to do with all the empty lots, do I make more parks or houses or what? Haha!

  • Good morning from America, Squeak!

I get that feeling of being just a little different but not being able to put your finger on why until recently. I was diagnosed about four-ish years ago for ASD, but I did have ADD (ADHD) diagnosed as a kid. We were able to blame a lot of my quirkiness on ADHD.

I also play games to unwind. It’s mostly Super Smash Bros. by myself and lately Fortnite with some friends. Pokémon and Fire Emblem are also big ones for me.

I’m pretty terrible at drawing as well, but one of the best therapies I’ve ever gotten was art therapy. It was very nice to make stuff without worrying too bad about how it looks. My biggest hobby is writing music, and I do that just for myself lately without worrying about whether anyone else will like it.

  • hello and welcome to the 'Latelings' club!

I hope you will find this place a welcoming and knowledgeable place

  • Whoops sorry I missed your reply (again). I am so bad at this! Lol.

I love the game – it’s amazing! So much fun and like I said in the other thread I always go back to it. I like The Simpsons Game as well but I think Hit & Run is better! There’s so much to do in Hit & Run and the storyline is super fun. It’s like watching and playing a film at the same time.
OMG thanks for telling me about the Halloween opening – I had no idea about that! Made a note of that so I can check it out next year… All the time I’ve played the game I never even knew that lol.
I own Hit & Run on ps2 and pc as well-though I haven’t used the ps2 version for a long time. I have a pink ps2 with Spongebob controllers lol XD

I love Yoshi, there’s just something so cute and fun about him… Animal Crossing is a must have game for me too. I like the Pokemon games as well, I collect the cards and own nearly all of the Pokemon games released. I don’t own a Switch 2 yet… Do you recommend it? I’ve been in two minds whether to get one or not.

Definitely get seasons it adds a lot to the gameplay and I think island life brings in the mermaid Sims as well if I remember. I also like Life & Death pack, you can work as the grim reaper and have funerals. I’ve been working on my house building in Sims 4 – I’m trying to build Santa’s workshop at the moment (and failing miserably!).

  • Ahh I play simpsons hit and run very often. Actually got it on right now, I’ve restarted the game lol! Omg I love the Christmas opening on Christmas Day! I will have to turn it on this year and see it. I remember on Christmas Day years ago, I have to wait for my dad to come home from work so I could open my presents and he was delayed to I played hit and run and saw the Christmas opening with Homer dressed as Santa! I love it! They also have a Halloween opening as well if you play on 31 October! I have both the ps2 and pc versions.

As for Nintendo I’m a huge fan of Yoshi, Kirby, animal crossing and of course, Mario! I love playing Yoshi woolly world, Kirby and the forgotten land, Mario kart, acnh, ttyd, the list goes on really! I also go through phases where I want to play older games as well but must admit I’ve been playing the switch 2 a lot lately.

For sims 4 I have the get to work, get famous, love struck, snowy escape and city living packs. Thinking of getting seasons and island life too.

  • Hi Lotus-thank you! What games do you play most? Any favourites you play over and over again?

I also like reading! I own a huge collection of books - bit of a bookwork! - slowly working my way through them all.

  • Hey, thanks for the welcome! I'm like that as well when I'm nervous or scared I get super chatty but it's all nonsense talk like I just gabble about anything.

I like Nintendo games too. Do you have any favourites you like to play? Also a big Sims 4 fan-I bought the new adventure awaits pack last month and have been having a lot of fun with it.

Hit & Run is such a fun game! It's so old but so much fun. Did you know if you play it on Christmas Day the opening theme changes to a Christmas one? It's like this fun little easter egg the devs put in. I always load it on Christmas Day just to see it lol Laughing

And another game I've been playing a lot lately is Fable 3 on the Xbox 360. it's pretty old now but I've been enjoying it. I go through phases of playing new and old games.

    What about you? Any favourites?

  • Hi and welcome to the community. I'm a woman in my mid sixties, retired, and I enjoy reading and playing video games too.

  • Hello and welcome! I am also very shy at first but when I settle I can be chatty. In fact if I’m nervous I can be super chatty lol! I’m a big gamer myself, mainly into family friendly Nintendo games but recently got into the sims 4. Also a huge Simpsons hit and run gamer! What games do you like?
