Hi

Hi,
I'm Jess.

I was diagnosed as autistic this February just gone. It wasn't really a surprise for me as I've felt different for as long as I can remember. I still feel a bit spaced out by everything though I am relieved to finally know who I am.

One thing I am struggling with is coping with the change and problems of life. I wish there was more support. It's like I have my diagnosis but no after support and that's made me feel a little more confused. I saw there's an ASD group local to me and I'm in two minds about joining it.

Sorry rambling now!

    Hi and welcome, CornishJess.

I've seen that there's an Autistic adults meet-up/"space" about 20 miles from me and I'm in two minds about joining it, too. The organisers have pictures of the venue and a description of what to expect (apparently, we're really big into board games), but the description leaves me wondering about what to expect EXACTLY. Who will be there, how crowded, age ranges, etc. It's on during the day in a meeting/function room in a hotel, so I was thinking I could sort of cruise past and peek in. Why is something as simple as this soooooo freakin' difficult?! Arghhh!

Anyway, let me give you some advice that I should also heed: give the group a go. If you don't like it, you can leave. They're all going to be Autistic, so they'll all understand that it's not going to be for everyone. No need to overthink it.

So, why am I overthinking it...?

You go first and let me know how you get on.
