Hi

Hi I'm lauren. I have autism and am dyslexic.

I suffer so much with anxiety but I'm trying to get it sorted out.

I like singing, colouring, reading, watching Disney and playing games.

  • I haven't read the Licanius Trilogy - just looked it up and it's not part of Kindle Unlimited, and it doesn't appeal enough for me to purchase it. But thanks for the recommendation - I'm always on the lookout for new books

Have you read any of the Middle Falls time travel series? Each book follows a character living in the town of Middle Falls and at the moment of death they are sent back to an earlier time in their life with memories of their last life intact. It's by an American author called Shaun Inmon.

I also like open world games - I wish Sims 4 was open world, the constant loading is the most annoying part of that game. Assassins creed Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla are great for the open world aspect, the historical facts, and the story lines.

Here is a link to my Sims 4 discussion thread - this is the first time I've tried to link to another thread, so I hope you can access it:

  • Yes, I like it, also writing myself. Now trying to read Daniken further but my toddler interrupts me every 5 minutes and tries to take the book from me, then draws pictures in it. So currently I’m so terribly exhausted and overwhelmed that I can’t anything. But aliens are still my love.

  • Hi Lauren - welcome to the community! Slight smile

If you haven’t yet seen it, you might find the advice here helpful, including in respect of accessing support:

  • The city I live in is very old but it's been modernised well so it doesn't really look that old anymore. My village still has a post office, but the library is long since gone.

Do you watch any Youtube videos on Lego creations? I do that for inspiration. Some of them are amazing and I hate that I'm not good enough to build like they do.

  • I was like that. I've moved out now but when I lived at home, I couldn't sing if anybody else was around.

Those sound like good books. I think I might have read The Trial by Rob Rinder before, but I can't remember for sure.

  • Hi Emmaelphant, thank you it's good to be with other autistics rather than on my own all the time.

I like wildlife as well. Growing up I watched a show called Deadly 60 nearly every day after school! It followed a naturalist-explorer who went around the world, studying wildlife and showing off some of the most deadliest ones. I used to love that show and happily watched it repeatedly. My dad even taped it on to a VHS tape for me so I could watch the episodes. I might even have that tape still.

Have you ever read The Elephant’s Journey? It’s by an author called José Saramago, and it’s based on a true story which makes it even better in my opinion. He’s written a lot of books but this one is my fave by him. Highly recommended, if you haven’t read it already.

I like singing and making music as well. Have you ever recorded any of your music? I've set up a little studio in my home, and I spend a lot of time in there making music.

  • Welcome! Good to have you here.

I love learning about wildlife (especially elephants) as well as medicine/biology. I also like books of various genres (e.g. fantasy, a few sci-fi elements, mystery, comedy and of course non-fiction about my favourite topics) and watching my favourite shows over and over again.
Additionally, I enjoy listening to and making music (e.g. in a choir, a band, by getting guitar and piano lessons and learning a bit about different instruments in general).

  • My town has got mainly independent shops, post office and a library.

Unfortunately the local museum is closed this year to do with maintenance issues. There are loads of old buildings.

I've got general lego and two lego books for ideas which are good. Shame the community hub doesn't do adult lego club.

  • Hi profdanger, thank you.

Thanks for mentioning that, I'll try to find those today if I can. I was too tired to go off exploring too much last night lol.

    Wishing you a happy Saturday.

  • Hi Rosignova, nice to meet you.

I am from Belfast, I've never been to England before. What's it like in Devon?

Do you have a fave Lego set? I love Lego, I like collecting the minifigures. I really want to get a Velma minifigure from Scooby Doo. She was my daughter's fave character.

  • Hi AlienOn3arth, thank you.

Are you interested in sci-fi? Alien

  • Hi, welcome to the community! I wish you find here support!

  • Hello!

    I'm a 41-year-old female from Devon.

Interests in lego, colouring, reading, music and nature .

I go to a group about twice a month, where I try to be active in my communities – taking part in activities from regular craft workshops to creating projects that teach members new skills.

  • I agree singing is fun. I would sing only if nobody is within earshot!

I’m re-reading “A History of the Ancient Near East” by Marc Van De Mieroop and my bedtime reading is “The Trial” by Rob Rinder.

  • Hello LaurenC and welcome to the community!

mentioned the Sims4 thread, but we also have threads for reading, art, and video games too!

  • Hi ArchaeC, thank you.

I'm not either, I just do it because I find it fun and it helps pass the time. Those sound interesting to read. I own a few historic books, some on Egypt, Victorian Britain and a couple on the Titanic and vintage ships.

Are you reading a book at the moment?

  • Hello LaurenC. Welcome to the community.

I am not talented artistically, but I do share your love of reading, mostly non fiction such as archaeology, history and canine behaviour. I read fiction every night in bed before going to sleep.

  • I like to read loads as well. I don't have kindle unlimited but I have been tempted to give it a try. Have you read the Licanius Trilogy? It's a time travel series and is a fun and interesting read. Highly recommend.

I love the Sims 4. I'll have a look for your thread, it's always fun playing Sims 4. I also play Assassin's Creed regularly. I just started playing Origins again a couple of weeks ago. I like open world games, you can explore and have fun as you play through the story.

  • I read so much now that I'm retired, but I have a kindle unlimited subscription which saves money. I read lots of genres including sci-fi, fantasy, time travel, historical novels and romantic comedy. I'm currently reading books by Matilda Scotney, a sci-fi author on the spectrum.

My favourite games are Sims 4 (I started a thread on that the other day), Fallout 4, Assassins creed Odyssey, BioShock 1&2 and Hogwarts Legacy.

  • Hi lotus. Thank you. What do you like to read and what games do you play?
