Hi

Hi I'm lauren. I have autism and am dyslexic.

I suffer so much with anxiety but I'm trying to get it sorted out.

I like singing, colouring, reading, watching Disney and playing games.

  • Hi. I also love fiction, the last few years I have been reading a lot of Louise Erdrich  books, I love the way she always adds nature and the importance of it in her books.

I like to read all kinds of books, not sure I could pick a fave, I go through phases of favourites. Last year it was Greek myth retellings with a feminist take.

Oh it's cool that you write too. I have always wanted to try short story writing but never have.

Do you re-read your favourite books?

  • I have done and do the exact same thing! When I had my assessment talking to myself and having conversations with people who weren’t there came up and so did pacing, and it was considered a normal autistic trait according to the woman doing my assessment. Sadly some autistic people are treated in mental health facilities, it’s so sad that it’s still happening in the modern day. Autism really needs more understanding.
I’m sorry you self harm but I do understand. This is something I struggle with myself, it’s an ongoing battle and I am trying to do it less and replace it with other things. I’ve read that hitting a pillow can help. And I’ve just started using an app called Calm Harm, it’s a free app and it has a lot of suggestions for alternatives to self harm. Talking to you has felt like talking to myself, I mean this in a good way. It sounds like talking to an Autistic person. Really glad this forum exists, I feel so understood and accepted here.

  • I had fantasies that I meet Erich Von Daniken and we chat. I’m reality I chatted few hours with myself while being alone at home. Paced my kitchen and talked to him being in my imagination. Now I have very little time for myself and pathological lack of time alone which increases my stress and I even have some self harming behaviors and desires because of this. If normies saw me like this talking to myself for few hours straight without eating or drinking or using bathroom, they would send me to a mental health facility. I’m not diagnosed by the way. So there is some possibility, that I’m not autistic. But I feel very much connected in this forum and I think my heart would break if I had to leave after being told I’m not autistic. My therapist thinks that I am and I myself suspect that too.

  • It’s so fascinating, I can see why you got goosebumps reading it! That happens to me literally every time I read it. The idea of a higher intelligence being involved blew my mind when I first started reading about it and continues to blow my mind now, especially when there is so much evidence what with different people’s accounts of it. I’ve watched some videos of him on YouTube as well, I could listen to him speak for hours, everything he says is so inspiring and thought provoking. He’s in my top 5 of people I would love to meet! He’s 90 years old now and yet still so alert, and he has a massive fan base of people he’s inspired and broadened their horizons. I haven’t ever seen his workshop before! I will of course be checking this out asap lol.
I found out about him, and other who are similar in much the same way. I read the Bible and my brain connected certain puzzle pieces and then I discovered incredible new ideas and possibilities. It’s so fascinating to think about.

It’s also amazing to meet another autistic whose in to these things! Literally everybody I know doesn’t get it like I do. So its nice I’m not the only one.

  • I’m reading his chariots of the gods, also red and other in German original is “Die Steinezeit war ganz anders” translation - “the Stone Age was very different” where he shows with various examples that the mining, the tools and sophisticated architecture of many structures around the world suggest there was higher intelligence involved, not just cave men. There are full data encoded in measurements of these structures also their longitude and latitude positions are not just random. It’s fascinating I had goosebumps while reading it. And also same while watching his workshop on YouTube - chariots of the gods where he spoke about Enoch being taken to heaven and taught by the angels astronomy with all positions of sun and moon, the story with Ezekiel on the desert being taken away to a landing base “village” in the very high mountains and the “temple” where the “glory of the highest” landed. He also had about Asia - Buddha in Stupa, Indian temples, South America- Puma-punku, Nazca, many others I don’t remember the names… absolutely amazing journey. First while reading Bible the New Testament I got some lightbulb moments that there could be some high technologically advanced civilization involved. I started googling and found out I’m not the only one… that there are theories already and I found Erich Von Däniken.

  • I look forward to reading your Sims 4 post! Blush

  • I hope you find a book that appeals to you and is on Kindle Unlimited. I might get that, I saw some of the Agatha Christie Poirot books are available on there and so is Harry Potter.

Have you read any of the Middle Falls time travel series? Each book follows a character living in the town of Middle Falls and at the moment of death they are sent back to an earlier time in their life with memories of their last life intact. It's by an American author called Shaun Inmon.

No I haven't but thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely be checking that out. It sounds similar to The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown. It follows this woman who gets given a book that opens doorways to moments of her past, she steps through and she's able to relive the memory.

I read it last year and was captivated by it. I'll check out Middle Falls, thanks again.

I know what you mean loading screens are a right pain in the Sims 4. I still live in hope one day they will make it an open world game, that would be brilliant if that happened. It's such a good game, it's the only thing that lets it down for me.
Yes the Assassin's Creed games are amazing for open world, there's so much detail in the worlds and a lot to explore and see. I'm playing Odyssey at the moment, I just got to go out to the open seas for the first time.

Thanks for the link Lotus... It worked!

I'll add to your discussion today. I'll try to add my own screenshots from my game, if that's doable here. I'll try to figure it out!

  • That is such a great idea and an incredibly sweet thing to do. That is one lucky girl!

  • Hi GreenGardener. I'm glad you love to read as well. What is your fave book? My fave genre is fiction. I love it because it makes the impossible possible. You're going on adventures, to unimaginable but incredible places, and every fiction book is a brand new adventure to take. I've always loved fiction books. When I write I always write about fiction, normally includes aliens so a little sci-fi as well but fictional primarily.

  • Hi Bunny, thanks.

Thank you for the link. I hadn't seen it yet, this will be a big help.

  • You are welcome, I hope you enjoy it.

That's so nice. You should share it with somebody, get some feedback and see what they think. I did that with my mum, and I got a lot more positive a response than I thought. I like writing and making songs about personal things I've experienced, like being different.

I've only properly recorded one song, and it's a children's song for my little girl lol. She struggles to sleep and worries about the dark so I sang her this song about dreaming and sunny things and it worked so well I decided to record myself and put it on a CD for her. It worked, she drops off quickly and sleeps soundly most of the time.

  • Yay another Deadly 60 fan! I'm glad I'm not the only one.

  • Aw I'm sorry to hear you're feeling like that. I have a 4 yro daughter and she leaves me feeling exhausted and overwhelmed every day. I try to get as much rest as I can, and do the things I enjoy when she's asleep or at nursery. It's difficult balancing everything though. I really feel for you!

What Erich Von Daniken book are you reading? I know he's most famous for Chariots of the Gods really but he's written so many good books it's hard to choose a favourite.

  • Hi. I loved be reading too. I will give any type of book a try. Do you have a favourite genre?

  • Sorry to but in here but Deadly 60 was a great show. Me and my sister would watch it all the time.

  • Thanks for the recommendation, I‘ll look into it!

I recorded a few songs via midi, but only for myself, family or close friends. What kind of music do you like and make? Do you just record for yourself or do you publish some of it?
