Hello!

Hi, I'm new to the site and have spent the majority of my morning exploring!

I have a 13 year old son who at home is funny, loving and caring. Over the last couple of years a few people have said to me that they found him a bit odd. I put this down to shyness something that I myself have sufferd with all my life. This changed a few weeks ago when a friend who has recently started to work with children with autism, said to me that she thought my son had aspergers.

I spent some time looking in to the condition and with every symptom I read about I could see  my son. I read that the best place to start when trying to get a diagnosis is the GP. I have a massive problem with this.....my son is completely phobic about doctors and gets quiet hysterical if a doctors appointment is even mentioned never mind made!

I have contacted school and was told by the headmaster that they would look in to what they could do to get an assesment. This was about a month ago and they still havent done anything to the point that my numerous calls are being ignored by the head.

Last night I had to attend parents evening so decided to collar the head but lo and behold he wasn't in attendance! I decided to talk to each and everyone of my son's teachers who once aspergers was mentioned to them proclaimed that yes they thought I was right! One kind teacher said that she would speak to the senco teacher and get her to call me today. I'm not sure if she will but I'm hoping!

I feel at my wits end not knowing where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly received.
