Seeking Guidance for Autism Support for My 15-Year-Old Son in India

Dear Members,

My name is Sudeep ***, and I am the father of a 15-year-old boy, Arjo ***, who is on the autism spectrum. We currently live in Kolkata, India, and are facing significant challenges in accessing adequate support and resources for Arjo’s development.

Despite our best efforts, the available facilities and therapies in our region are limited, and we do not have the financial means to relocate or access international treatment options. Arjo is a bright and unique child, and we believe that with the right exposure and interventions, he can make significant progress.

I am reaching out to this forum to seek advice and guidance on:
1. Any international programs or NGOs that offer free or subsidized support for children with autism.
2. Resources, online tools, or therapy methods that I can implement at home to support his development.
3. Any organizations or individuals who might help connect us with international specialists or programs.
4. Suggestions on how we can bridge the gap in autism-related services in our area.

I deeply appreciate any help or direction you can provide. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Warm regards,
Sudeep ***

Parents
  • Hello Sudeep, and welcome to our community.

Unfortunately, I do not know of any international programs, NGOs, or specialists that could help with your situation.

There are some articles on this website which provide quite a lot of information for parents of autistic children - if you tap or click on the three lines at the top of this page, then choose Advice and guidance, you will see a list of topics.

Once your son reaches the age of 18 he will be welcome to join this forum and get support and advice from other autistic adults if he wishes to.

Just to let you know that one of the rules of this forum is that we do not give our full names or anything that could identify us, for the online safety of you and your family. Therefore you will need to choose a nickname to use when posting on here.

I wish you and your son all the best.
