Favourite U.K. holiday places

Hello everyone,

we are thinking of having a shortish budget holiday in the U.K. and would be interested to hear any recommendations you might have.

What are your favourite places for a holiday or weekend break in the U.K.?
preferably nowhere too busy or hectic - we like fairly quiet places - not big crowds. Definitely not a big city.

Any ideas?

Thanks Blush

  • Anglesey is beautiful as are the mountains of Eyrie (Snowdon), its not always so peaceful but if you avoid bank holidays and school breaks it's fine.

I love Dorset, the area around Weymouth, not the town itself which would be busy although good for food, but theres so much around there.

What sort of things would you be interested in doing, beaches and swimming, history and archaelogical sites, walking?

  • We haven’t been to Anglesey - will take a look at that area. We’ve been to Lyme Regis & Durdle Door - really lovely. Where are good places around Weymouth? Can you recommend anywhere in particular? We like beaches - but we definitely don’t do any swimming! We like nature, woodland, walking in the countryside. And nice cafes of course! Quite like literary connections too - we went to Hardy’s birthplace a few years ago, and Max Gate. We like interesting film locations too.
