Favourite U.K. holiday places

Hello everyone,

we are thinking of having a shortish budget holiday in the U.K. and would be interested to hear any recommendations you might have.

What are your favourite places for a holiday or weekend break in the U.K.?
preferably nowhere too busy or hectic - we like fairly quiet places - not big crowds. Definitely not a big city.

Any ideas?

Thanks Blush

  • I know lots of places in Wales that would be ideal. I live in an 18th centuary cottage that my Mum has for sale where there is a footpath opposite leading down to a beach which not many people ever go there as its only real access is down the footpath opposite. The beach itself is a few miles long, and where one comes out from the path, the mile of beach to the left is a mix of lovely sand and small pebbles. The few miles of beach to the right is rocky and has a slight erroded cliff-like drop, so we don't go that way, but the mile of beach to the left is lovely, and where I live, the nearest neighbour takes about a 5 minute walk to get to as as very few houses here, but as we are near a road and a cyclepath, two miles east is a seaside village with a castle, and six miles in either direction are towns, one of which is touristy as has three narrow gauge railways and the ordinary standard gauge line. So many steam locos going back and fore that if I hear a whistle I hardly look, but if I hear a diesel horn I look as it is less common!

It is funny, as if we see more than about six people at any one time down our beach in the summer we consider the beach to be crowded!

But I know of lots of secluded, or semi-secluded picturesque places in various places in Wales, as being autistic and a kinda natural introvert, I tend to prefer the secluded places where not many people go, and have cpme across some real gems!
