Thirty, flirty, and thriving (and autistic)

Good morning - I came across the National Autistic Society for the first time ever a few months ago and I'm excited to meet humans on this side of the spectrum.

I spoke to my therapist recently about how as a child, my family would struggle to accept that I would pick at my food. It wasn't just that I was a picky eater - I was a scientist about it. Making observations, hypotheses about how it would taste, removing any fat from meat that was cooked too rare when I preferred a medium cut at an age where I couldn't explain that the meat was too rubbery and gross to chew - it's gotten to where I don't like to eat in front of people because I am afraid they will notice my fascination for the food in front of me.

I haven't been able to share this memory with too many people. I can't tell you how good it feels to know that I can share that with you and you CAN'T judge me mwahahah !!!
