Just diagnosed after 14 years of Struggle

Good morning Smile Im new on here, my 17 year old daughter was diagnosed yesterday as having Aspergers, we both struggled for 14 years of trying to get help, finally we found the right person at cahms to help her!  but now theyve diagnosed her she has been discharged.

Where do we go now? Undecided shes at home as cant go to college and has no friends.

  • Go to the bottom of the right hand column on the NAS website home page. There's a little map with either enter service or enter place, or below it an Autism Services Directory which opens a page with more search options.

    Hopefully there will be an organisation locally to whom you can go to seek advice relevant to local schools and services.

    The main problem with this resource is it lists alphabetically eg under a place, so you might have to scroll through a lot of unhelpful looking information. NAS local groups come under N, but what would an independent parents group vome under - not necessarily P?

    I would ask the Moderators, if they are watching, to look into placing priorities first then repeating them in a full alphabetical list.
