Good afternoon,
I wanted come and say hello before I start asking a multitude of questions and asking for advice, so, Hi everybody I’m James. I’m autistic and like many others, I struggle with a lot of stuff which keeps me in doors much of the time.
My diagnosis came just before Christmas but for years I had been diagnosed with agoraphobia and social phobias, social anxiety, even PTSD. The repeated therapy never worked and nobody questioned why. That was until some information (sen statement) from childhood came to light, then it was recommended I be assessed for Autism, and just like that, here I am in my 40’s trying to make sense of it all and learn about who I really am. I'm looking forward to it.
I really don’t know where to start but I’ll get there, I think!
It's a lot, isn't it? But you're welcome here.
Hello and welcome to the community. I hope you find this place to be as helpful and thought provoking as I have. Many here are so helpful and can offer views from many perspectives. It’s a great place to turn to when questions arrive.

I reckon a lot of us can relate to this sentiment, but, you’ve already taken your first step.
All the best.
I'm in a similar situation so I relate to this post so much!
You're welcome :)
I hope you enjoy your time here on the community.

Hi Sparkly. Thank you, that all sound good to me, it's nice to finally be able to make sense of some things.
Hello, James. Welcome to the community! ^^
Hi Simon, thanks.
Hi and thanks Autonomistic. Yeah, learning and understanding would be great, I think I'm trying to take too much in and too quickly but I'll find what works I'm sure.
Love your user name, that’s great! Welcome
Hello there and welcome.
Hopefully, you will find this community to be a friendly place, full of all sorts of wonderfully weird, interesting, amusing, and informative information. I joined last year and can honestly say that I wish I had done so sooner.
Hi, James, welcome to the board.
Welcome to the community and to your autistic discovery journey.
Like you I've suffered various kinds of anxiety for many years and no therapy or medication ever helped. Receiving a diagnosis doesn't make it go away but it does make it easier to understand.
