My 10 year old son has recently been diagnosed with autism so will be grateful for any advice offered
1.) let him know what is going to happen prior to every engagement with people, so that he knows what is going to happen and there is no surprises or social shock for him, the things you tell him are going to happen,, MUST HAPPEN, so that trust and relaxation occurs builds up long-term.
2.) Cue him gently to do things
3.) Just listen do not talk or do not talk much, this takes you into his background and then you can engage back in at his pace.
My brother calls me the Deer, sensitive, highly aware and must not be spooked !
