  • Are the people who diagnosed you referring you on to services in your area who can  help you? If not, can your Mum help you to find out what is available for you, especially if you need to talk to someone to help you through these early days?

If not, you can get information from this website about what is available in the area where you live. Have a look round the website or you could call the NAS helpline.

Once I had my diagnosis, I felt at least I knew what I was dealing with. I was not diagnosed until my 50's, so had a lot of years when I just struggled to cope, with little idea of what was the matter. I am determined to regard my diagnosis as a start and not to look back.

I am not surprised it seems frightening for you now, it is all new, but there is a lot of help available out there. Start from the home page on this site.
