a little bit of help needed

hi everybody, im robbie, i have an 18 year old daughter with autism, she is a good kid but i think she has reached  the age when she dont want to be hanging around with her dad anymore. she attends college two and a half days a week, but its not enough to occupy her mind, like alot of autistic young adults she does not have many friends she is not capable of going out much on her own and definatly not after dark.   i would like to find social clubs in the cannock area for autistic people, and also supervised days out, activity weekends and supervised holidays. her mom does not have a lot to do with her, i am her full time carer, so any suggestions would be great,, also anyone in the cannock area get in touch, give me some ideas,, im a bit lost to be honest..   thanks robbie.

  • Hi Robbie - welcome to the site.  I don't live in Scotland.  Have you got a social worker who may be able to point you + your daughter in the right direction for social activities + support to take part?   Is she getting all the money she's entitled to?  Also there are "befriending" services where they match a person with another person so they can spend time together going out etc.  Your social services dept may hold such a list.  Has your daughter said what she wants to do now she's 18?  Don't be too concerned about feeling a bit lost - we've all felt that way at times.  You sound like a good dad.
