Hi - I'm new here

Hi, I'm new this his board, so I thought I should introduce myself here first.

I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was still I school - I tried to brush it off for years, and get on with my life, but I have too many problems to be able to do that.

I've been trying to find work, but with no luck, first because I find it difficult to write an application letter, also I find it tough in interviews because I'm not very good in conversation - I am a friendly, approachable persons, but that doesn't come across in interviews - I don't know whether or not I should tell them I have Aspergers, or if that would ruin any chance I have of getting a job.

I wish I could do this under better conditions, but I have to go in for an interview with a company in charge of running the Work Program, which I was placed on a few years ago. I'm worried about it - even though I've had interviews with them before, and everything was okay. My mum has agreed to go with me, but I still feel like it's going to end badly.

Anyway, that's me, and that's where I am right now. Sorry if this all sounds bad, but that's just how it is. Sorry.

  • Well, ideally I'd like something in film/television - that's what I like, and I do have a degree in film production. Problem is, where I live, there aren't too many opportunities for that.

Failing that, I'd like something in retail - I've been doing some voluntary work in a local charity shop, so I'd like to take that further.

Work Program may not sound very appealing, but if it helps me to get a job, then it can't be all bad - also, it gets me out of the house - I feel as though I'm going crazy sometimes staying in the house for too long.
