I have a question. Is it actually useful for autistic people to do social skills training? Is it possible to learn social skills well as an autistic person?
ok,thank you
I found "Improve Your Social Skills" by Daniel Wendler quite useful. The author is autistic himself which gives the book a unique perspective. The book is only covering very basic skills and probably wouldn't be super useful for a NT person. However, it goes into enough details for the basic skills that if you are on the spectrum you can derive useful rules from it.
I think it's possible to improve.
I got a book called ...
Which has good reviews. It is helpful to have some pointers.
ok,thanks
I would have to say yes. Knowing how to act in a NT world is probably the first step to being more socially aware. I think the best piece of advice I could give you is to think of three things you can say to somebody before you meet them. That way you will have plenty to talk about if there is a silence. Also have things in your head to talk about with workmates or classmates etc.
yes u can pick up all sorts of tips and skills which will help you.
One would assume it depends on the individual - some yearn for social acceptance whilst others don’t care for it.
