Hello - cure for Pervasive not otherwise specified Autism

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with Pervasive not otherwise specified Autism about 2 years ago. I suffer from incredible amounts of anxiety and I feel different from everyone else in sixth form.

I heard there is a new drug called Balovaptan which can decrease social issues as well as stem cell therapy treatment which is being discovered (according to CNN News). Do you think there will ever be medication or even a cure for autism in the future?

  • As covered by another user speak to your schools senco as you already have the diagnosis. They will organise the iep (individual education plan)  they apply to local authorities for funding. You may want to read about the 100 day kit that has been suggested but it is a kit for parents of children 4 and under who have just got diagnosis. Also it us only available in the states and they don't ship international so it will probably be no use to you.

UK guides say pdd-nos falls under the category of autism as such their is no cure alot of places claim stem cell treatment works but this is not proven.

Your gp can help with the anxiety side though there are alot of medications that really do help if you are reluctant to try medication ask for specialist autism therapy most people find the normal anxiety counselling offered is not tailored for them hence asking for specific. Look for local support groups they might be able to give you more information on what is available for you. The directory on this site also lists all services available and can be refined by need and area

Mostly remember that you are not alone and can find support here. Good luck
