Aspergers

Hello all, I have a 14 yr old son who has Aspergers. We've gone through the lot, diagnosis, CAMHS, medication, statements, exclusions and special schools. I still feel no closer to coping. Are there other parents like me struggling to cope, when even GP's turn their backs on you and his xbox is his only way in life!xx

  • I got lucky in that while I only just got diagnosed with Aspergers (at 22) my younger brother has Aspergers and my little sister has ASD. It kinda runs rampant in my family. I kinda feel bad for my Mum because I can't imagine we were easy to raise but she's managed and she did so pretty much on her own. Luckily there is a lot more out there for people with Autism/Aspergers and their families now so it's just a case of doing research. Like someone said above don't trust the problem to your GP because as the name suggests they dal with general health problems and you need someone who can deal with whatever you need specifically and who obviously is educated in the subject and has an interest.
