Hello everyone,

I thought I just like to say hi to everyone. I have a child who has been diagnosed with a number of ASD's. I am looking for advice and support and have decided that I am going to do my best to raise awareness of the autistic spectrum and the autistic spectrum disorders of which there are many.

Hopefully if we can raise awareness more people who do not have a family member or know someone with a family member who has an ASD we can be made aware and help us provide and get better support for those of us with a family member with an ASD.

  • ADHD and dyspraxia are developmental conditions which may possibly be related to the ASCs, but are different because people with ADHD and dyspraxia do not have the Theory of Mind difficulties that people with a form of autism have. Therefore they cannot be said to be part of the Autistic Spectrum, and to  include them would not be scientific.However, many people with ASC have co-existing conditions, which are commonly ADHD, dyspraxia, and/or OCD etc.

    I would also like to add that Autism etc are not disorders. Autism Spectrum Conditions is the  term that should be used nowadays to avoid offence.
