Hello everyone

Hello everyone,

I thought I just like to say hi to everyone. I have a child who has been diagnosed with a number of ASD's. I am looking for advice and support and have decided that I am going to do my best to raise awareness of the autistic spectrum and the autistic spectrum disorders of which there are many.

Hopefully if we can raise awareness more people who do not have a family member or know someone with a family member who has an ASD we can be made aware and help us provide and get better support for those of us with a family member with an ASD.

  • Technically there are 3 main forms of ASD's although when speaking to medical professionals there are other conditions apart from the main 3 you mention. From research I have done the following are seen to form part of the autistic spectrum:

    1. Autism
    2. Asperger's syndrome
    3. Dyspraxia
    4. ADD / ADHD
    5. Pervasive development disorder - not specified (PDF-NOS)
    6. Childhood disintegrative disorder (CDD)
    7. Rett syndrome

I believe there may be some others from the people I have spoken to but I am going to do some more research and try and get more clarification from the medical proffession.

Thanks for the comment. Hopefully soon I'll get a better understanding of ASD's and my child's condition in particular.
