Autism affects people differently so it is often referred to as "Autism Spectrum Disorder" They are terms that describe the same thing. Having a diagnosis of autism means that he is affected enough to need a diagnosis and help with his problems.

it is likely that you will need help to learn how to deal with him and his behaviour and to teach him better behaviours. This may mean you learning new skills and new ways of talking to him.
