Wait times for Adult diagnosis.

Hello, My whole life I have felt different. I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 15/16. I turn 22 on June 27th. ADHD never seemed like the right thing for me. Today I went to my GP and explained stuff in detail, I went in with a hand written letter explaining what I feel like and how life is for me and she took that letter and said she would and she is sending off for a referral for Aspergers. I am quite an anxious person and I would appreiate it if someone else who has tried/ succesfully had an adult diagnosis would reply to this. 

I was wondering how long or what happens how. She said I would recieve a letter in the post but as i said I am quite anxious to know the time scales as it would maybe help my mind settle slightly. As I said my whole life I have felt different and I am eager to try and get to the bottom of it. 

I live in the North West of England, in Warrington. 

What time scales did you face from the moment you left the GP? and what happened after you got the letter?

  • Wow! 2 years is a long time :( I'm currently at university and the university don't really see ADHD as a thing that needs extra help in lessons which is really quite annoying. I have 1 hour of help a week in the library with someone who knows next to nothing about my course. I probably should've gone for help sooner.

    I am sick of feeling this this extra terrestial 22 year old who feels like they are in this loop of their 11th year in life. I try so hard to try and overcome it but I cannot. 

    I hope to get this sorted.
