5 year old son Assesment coming up after 7 months waiting - advice?

Hi been waiting since october for my sons assesment. Now have a date coming up. 

Any advice on what to expect at the assesment? its at the Ryegate centre in sheffield and I think its a multi discplinary assesment. Is there usually a lot of assesments before you get a diagnosis or not?

  • Hi Em 83. My son is also under Ryegate. I believe they use a combination of diagnostic 'tools' called ICD 10 and DSM 5, I googled these to find what info they would ask. They also do a play based observation. Have they sent you a form / questionnaire to fill in? If not phone and ask for it. Sheffield parent carer forum are great at offering help and advice. Good luck.
