3Di

Hi,

I have a 3Di assessment next week, which I know is a computer based developmental, dimensional & diagnostic interview. I am feeling quite apprehensive about it & would appreciate some information on what to expect. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My son is 6 yrs old now but I 'knew' from just a few months old that he was 'different'. I expressed my concerns to the medical professions for 5 years...but was only when he started school that those concerns were recognised. So, at this stage I feel a real mixture of emotions-I am relieved that he may finally get the support he needs, I AM actually being listened to, but am also in the 'it's just hit me & become real' kinda mode.

  • Hi, Thats great it went well, same old questions they just like to call it different things to get us worried! lol

Im still going through emotions and like you I thought I was a strong person I have now after a few months decided I am still a strong person but need some suport with some things, thats how i hope you will look at things. It actualy takes strength to say I need help.

Im sure your daughter doesnt think you are offloading on her and wants to help both you and your son.

There is a local branch of the NAS near me but (I dont want to moan about them on there own site but) the woman who runs it has been a nightmare, I joined the NAS the day after diagnoses, I had loads of leaflets from my sons psych to get help and support and was ready to get some help after 16years!! The NAS in generaly was highly recomended, but other than this forum I feel a bit let down.

There hasnt been a local branch meeting since July when I first emailed the lady that runs it, Ive tried a few times and she just answers with I will contact you with dates of the next meeting when they are available. The Help! courses look fantastic and ive heard wonderfull reports about them, if you can go to them then I would. But they dont run in scotland anymore. Ive tried other avenues with no luck so unfortunatly I havnt had any guidence or support that I thought I would be able to get. But realisticaly I know thats an area issue, if I lived somewhere else I would get more help.

So best of luck to you, let me know how your study groups go and I can learn from you!
