3Di

Hi,

I have a 3Di assessment next week, which I know is a computer based developmental, dimensional & diagnostic interview. I am feeling quite apprehensive about it & would appreciate some information on what to expect. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My son is 6 yrs old now but I 'knew' from just a few months old that he was 'different'. I expressed my concerns to the medical professions for 5 years...but was only when he started school that those concerns were recognised. So, at this stage I feel a real mixture of emotions-I am relieved that he may finally get the support he needs, I AM actually being listened to, but am also in the 'it's just hit me & become real' kinda mode.

  • Hiya, 3Di went well....was nowhere near as daunting as i'd expected!! lol

The outcome...my son was diagnosed with mild-moderate Autism. I'm happy with that, he can now get the support he needs & I can join study groups to help me understand him better to make the right decisions.

Blimey....no'one warns you of the emotions!! I always thought I was a strong person, but this all has taken a good chunk out of me!

You're right tho, this site is probably the only support for alot of people. I have family I can talk to but they don't live nearby, so cannot really offer any support . My 20yr old daughter (lives at home) came with me today, she is so patient & understanding with her brother-but I don't think it's fair to 'offload' on her.

Anyway, apparently I will be invited to a string of study groups which will help me to deal with issues and I have a local NAS to look up. I don't know if you have one nearby, but they hold regular meetings.
