Homeopathy treatment for Autistic

My son has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  We have tried Occupational, Sensory and Speech Therapy, but had not with much success.

I am currently researching whether there is any other ways to support my son. During my research I found that Homeopathy can significantly improve or help Autistic child.

I would like to know whether any parents have tried Homeopathy and would share their experience with me.

Thank you.

  • Oh, this old one again. You will find much, often heated, debate on this subject. If you look through past posts, you will find details of a particular practitioner who asserts that he has an effective treatment endorsed by parents like you.

Whilst I find the idea of 'treatment' just for being different to be an abhorent idea, I would support any desparate parent who is ready to try anything in order to help their child. Certainly there is a body of anecdotal evidence that suggests homeopathy can/has helped some AS people, and as a general rule I find no more convincing evidence to support the use of chemical medicine than for alternative therapies.

I have to say that I have seen people (not ASD!) have physical conditions alleviated, improved and cured by alternative medicine, and I've been particularly impressed by Chinese medicine.

There are plenty of natural Valium-effect plants out there. Cannabis is a very good natural treatment, for instance, and is currently being explored (and prescribed) by the chemical medicine based establishment. A clue there, I think. However, I no more endorse it's use as a tranquiliser on a child than any other treatment, and I hope that this isn't what you mean by 'improve'.

I still wouldn't argue against you getting some peace of mind or a good night's sleep though, but preferably not habitualy, so I recommend a good malt whisky, and don't be afraid to have some yourself!
