Homeopathy treatment for Autistic

My son has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  We have tried Occupational, Sensory and Speech Therapy, but had not with much success.

I am currently researching whether there is any other ways to support my son. During my research I found that Homeopathy can significantly improve or help Autistic child.

I would like to know whether any parents have tried Homeopathy and would share their experience with me.

Thank you.

  • I have looked at past posts on this forum, but most of them are opinions either from parents or professional about Homeopathy. I am looking for a parent (s) who has actual gone through Homeopathy treatment for their child and share their experience postive or negative.  Preferably, in last 3-4 years.

Internet has lot of material on ASD, studies and professional claiming cure/treatment. But I haven't found a UK parent who has first hand experience of Homeopathy treament for ASD.

Hence, raised the question on this forum.

Is there any post where Parent actual stated they have recent experience of Homeopathy for ASD? If yes, please let me know and I will check again.

    Thank you.

  • There is certainly a lot of debate about homeopathy, not least because of the extreme dilutions used.  If you delve further, though, you will also find that there is some argument between homeopaths on the best approach which, even if you decide homeopathy is for you, makes choosing a homeopath quite difficult.  Many call themselves "classical" but, on closer examination, turn out not to be.  Simply selecting someone from the Scoeity of Homeopaths register is no guarantee.  I think it can be a minefield.

I've not read it myself but Amy Lansky's book is highly recommended.

  • Oh, this old one again. You will find much, often heated, debate on this subject. If you look through past posts, you will find details of a particular practitioner who asserts that he has an effective treatment endorsed by parents like you.

Whilst I find the idea of 'treatment' just for being different to be an abhorent idea, I would support any desparate parent who is ready to try anything in order to help their child. Certainly there is a body of anecdotal evidence that suggests homeopathy can/has helped some AS people, and as a general rule I find no more convincing evidence to support the use of chemical medicine than for alternative therapies.

I have to say that I have seen people (not ASD!) have physical conditions alleviated, improved and cured by alternative medicine, and I've been particularly impressed by Chinese medicine.

There are plenty of natural Valium-effect plants out there. Cannabis is a very good natural treatment, for instance, and is currently being explored (and prescribed) by the chemical medicine based establishment. A clue there, I think. However, I no more endorse it's use as a tranquiliser on a child than any other treatment, and I hope that this isn't what you mean by 'improve'.

I still wouldn't argue against you getting some peace of mind or a good night's sleep though, but preferably not habitualy, so I recommend a good malt whisky, and don't be afraid to have some yourself!
