geeeeh i give up!

Sooooooo I am getting my head round this diagnoses of autistic traits and sensory issues,as ive always belive it was more, anyway ive been working in a school for children with mild disabilities and ive been looking at the children and im thinking my son is not that bad educationally, his behaviour at home is shocking, anyway i started thinking ok maybe it is just autistic traits and sensory issues and hypercussis.

Then i went to parents evening,i had a lot more time with the teacher because i had to cancel due to hubbys heart attack and make another on a different week which meant i got a lot longer than 5 mins that was rushed.

The teacher said to me she suspects hes on the spectrum and shes going to try and best to help us as much as she can and whilst this is utterly brilliant!!!!!! its like arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Sorry i just feel like a yoyo and needed to get it out.

Yes, I think that it sounds like the teacher could be really helpful for your S.If she has come across children on the spectrum before then she will have useful experience.

    - Try and make friends with him/her and

    - try and listen to what she has to say

    - try and have a proper discussion with her about your S.You could ask her what they mean by traits.

    - Try and write down some of the things she says.

Most teachers like to work with the parents rather than having to fight them so she is likely to appreciate you going to her and asking for more co-operation and help.
