am sure im right about my son

so my son is 3 and is currently been assessed for autism, 2 month ago i got his diganoisis he doesnt meet the criteria but he does have autism traits, they are going to reassess him in a year or 2 again, the first time he saw the doctor and the way he acted to a car the wheels wouldnt work he had meltdown and she said in her opionion he has mild autism, he goes to nursery ony plays with cars, plays in his own little world, not interested and wont interact with children he been there for a year, but he isnt shy though and when other children hug him he gets distressed and upset, he has to be in routine or he has a meltdown or gets distressed if his routine changes abit, he aways needs directions,  repeats himself alot especally if he is anxious, chews fingers when anxious, he will only eat cold food and only eat certain food as he doesnt like textures of  certain food wich ive tried with him, his speech was very delayed only started talking about 5 month ago. when he has his metdowns he gets violent, throws himself about, hits himself off everything and try to hurt himself, he has to use pushchair and he gets very anxious  when out and about as if we dont go a certain way he can kick off and means having a meltdown which he can very a proper handful, these are tantrums as i know the difference between them, hes always lining cars up and lays on the floor watching the wheels go round, and if the wheels dont go round he gets very upset and distressed. he hates loud noises covers ears or run away, hates the hoover, motor bikes and noisy toys etc, i dont know what i meant to be saying lol first time ive posted on here

  • Hi,

Is their anyway, you can get a different person to re-assess him and tell the g.p you think the person who asessesd him is very wrong. Explain, it's very hard work and that you've just been left for two years, without any support, when he has more severe difficulties than 'autistic traits.' I origionally trained in a nursey as a nursery nurse, and there was a boy, exactly as you have described in your son, and he was diagnosed with autism.

It sounds like the person whom assesed your son, needs to go and re-train, especially in autism/aspergers and they need to have more training on how to comminucate, because if they can't spot a child with a developmental dissorder and have left you to cope, then they aren't very good and i wouldn't put up with such ignorance/basic support.
