Death in the family

My mother died just over three weeks ago, at the age of seventy-seven. She was my official carer. I am now left living with my father, who I do not get on with.

I miss having my mother to talk to. I even miss her nagging. I feel very alone without her. I wish she was here to help me deal with the rest of my family.

I want to move out as soon as possible. I have a little saving, but no income. I don't know what to do, or where to go. I feel this overwhelming need to escape. I am 47 and have been single for the last 22 years. I have ASD and a history of severe depression.

I am used to making all my decisions with my mothers help. Her funeral is on Wednesday. I wish it were over all ready.

  • Hello

My condolences towards you - this does not sound like an easy situation to be a part of whatsoever, where there is such drastic change to adapt ourselves around.

I can understand why you might want to work through this situation quickly - being able to move away from something painful and energy intensive is incredibly reasonable.

You have a right to feel safe, secure, and in control of your life, with the availability of space that you can call your own - I hope that there might be a solution in sight

While I am sure that our community with have many suggestions to give, I would like to direct you towards several resources:

Citizens Advice - The Citizens Advice Bureau may be able to provide you with advice based upon your needs

Autistic Adults - Autism & Grief Project - A project centered around grief through autistic adults

Autism Services Directory - Perhaps there may be useful resources located within your area.

I wish you the best going forwards, you truly do deserve the best support available in order to help you through this time.
