Wearing sunglasses to avoid socializing

I like to take long walks. I like to try and get 10k steps each day. Walks are one of very few times I get true alone time and time to compartmentalize and just space out. I know it sounds arrogant, but strangers approaching me when I'm walking irritates me to no end. I don't give eye contact, I don't ever really smile but people still talk to me. It's not that I dislike people it's just this hour and a half or so is genuinely the only silence I get in a day sometimes. On walks I don't even wear t-shirts with any interests at this point.

My friend wears sunglasses and says that helps as it gives the indication of been socially unavailable (google also said this). I tried with a cheap pair but hated how they felt on my ears (hate over ear headphones and some hats for the same reason) and I like to have full and clear visibility. Anyone here wear sunglasses to avoid socializing? Does it actually work?

I totally get where you’re coming from. When I’m out walking I deliberately go to the places where I’m unlikely to see anyone. If I do see anyone my anxiety rises as we’re approaching each other.

I find that wearing sun glasses makes me anonymous somehow and a baseball cap is also a good idea. I’ve even worn sunglasses in therapy when I’ve been feeling particularly vulnerable even though I rarely make eye contact with my therapist. I just feel protected and I can just breathe more easily.
