AI replies

Hi I have noticed on here that sometimes someone will reply with what looks like a very AI response to someone’s question. Initially the message looks kind and understanding, but after a while it seems obvious to me that it’s AI. (As someone who has tried Chat GPT a few times). I am wondering if people might use it to put a ‘good’ reply to a thread on here? And genuinely mean well, or if it’s just weird? It makes me feel uncomfortable that might just be me though.

  • Okay, but it’s important to point out that AI is improving all the time, and you can still get very sensible responses to issues, although one should always preview what is being generated, of course. So, subject to checks, I don’t really see a problem. AI and human interaction is going to be a big part of the future anyway, so I say bring it on!
Let’s say someone uses AI to share an opinion. If the user reviews it, finds it helpful and reasonable, then what’s the issue? If it’s a solid point of view that sparks discussion, isn’t that a positive thing? The reality is we’ll need to get used to interacting with AI since it’s becoming a big part of the future, and ignoring it doesn’t make sense. When AI reaches AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), wouldn’t it be wise to treat it with respect and recognize its role in society? Taking a “Luddite” stance on this probably won’t help much.

I've seen from your profile that you are 76

I find your positive stance towards AI (in various posts here) and in-depth knowledge of it quite unusual for your generation.

Could you let us know a little bit about your own experience of it please and what has led you to these conclusions.

    Thank you.

  • I should point out that it was my generation that developed AI to the level it has reached today. It didn’t just appear out of nowhere. What I’m saying is that people have been thinking about AI for a long time, myself included.

The fact remains that AI isn’t going away and, by all accounts, will continue to grow, so why fight it? Isn’t it best to simply accept and adapt to it?

  • I have run one of your responses to the OP “Fire Alarms and Autism Shutdowns” through GPTZero AI Detection and taken a screenshot of the result which I can post in a separate thread (to avoid breaking this one) if anyone is interested. It states:

We are highly confident this text was AI generated.

It also states that there is a 100% chance that the entire text was AI generated.

  • I should have added that you are brave to have initiated it so thank you.

  • You are welcome.

I recognised that those posts were likely AI too but I didn’t know what to do either at first.

Before using GPT AI detection, I copied an original post (not yours) to AI and asked how it would respond. It gave a response in the same style as AI responses on this forum. It seems that posts on this forum aren’t always from people who simply need help with wording their intention. The posts can be from people who haven’t a notion or care about autistic people and their needs.
