Does anyone have sensitivities?

Especially I'm wondering about sensitivities and allegric reactions to food dye/additives.

I wondered if that might be why medication can be a bit or an issue.

I'm thinking I do to allura red and titanium dioxide = maybe others. I'm on a lot of meds for health issues so it's a real concern

Parents
  • I have Cholinergic Urticaria / hives, and maybe lactose intolerance (stopped taking it without testing.)

Not to additives though. Although I avoid most of dressings and stuff full of them.

  • Thanks. Sounds sensible testing is a chore.

  • I've got loads of them, one of the most encompassing is PEG's or polyethaline glycol, it's in everything, from medical creams, to shampoo and laundry products, make-up the lot. I never knew that there was one thing that was a fairly coomon allergen until I went for my first Covid jab and was refused it because the pharmacist took one look a tthe list of allergies and told me that was what it was. I had to have my jabs in hospital, all hooked up to monitors and stuff.

My GP has to get her book of meds out when prescribing me stuff, she tries to prescribe me ointments as they have far fewer ingredients in them usually one or two base ingredients and the active one.

There's loads of other stuff I'm allergic or intollerant to, latex, penecillin, flagyl, (another anti-biotic), opiates make me hallucinate really badly without giving me much in the way of pain relief, ibuprofen and aspirin I can't take either. My body seems unable to digest meat or fish and the results if I do eat them are incredibly painful, I can't have sweet and sour foods because if I do I vomit violently and imediately, monosodium glutimate makes me really ill, the last time I accidently ate some, I thought I was going to have a heart attack and nearly called an ambulance.

There's a few things that trigger IBS, like swede and bananas that I avoid plus things I really don't like, like turnips and raddishes.

What makes it all seem worse is people go on about what an inconvenience I am to them, do they never think about what it's like for me? I've had some serious arguments over it, people often think it's some kind of affectation and get really impatient. It's even worse when it's medical staff, then I have a real fight on my hands, I've been given stuff they'e known I'm allergic too when I've been unconcious, then I've woken up with the symptoms and find out what I've been given and have an argument when I should be resting.

People ask if I shouldn't have one of those neckalces that tell first responder about your allergies, my reply is that I'd need a breast plate to fit the list of my allergies on it!

  • I just don't like them, they taste weird and horrible to me, along with many of thier relatives, like celeriac and raddishes and khol rabi must have fallen from the devils backside, it's so foul.

  • Are you allergic to turnips or just intolerant?

  • Wow that's harsh. sorry you have all that especially as the medical staff don't sound helpful. Maybe some sort of electronic medicalert memory stick thing for your allergy list? they should invent this

I have just developed an allergy to something in dove hand wash it's annoying - i thought that one was ok.

I'm on a few meds and I wonder if a much milder allergy than yours or even an insensitivity is causing my bladder pain when I have my migraine meds.....
