Confused with diagnosis process

Help with diagnosis process
Hi, my son is 6 and has been having problems since nursery (probably even before that but it never seemed strange to me). We've gone through a long process so far with family support workers, behavioural support, senco, observations etc. I recently completed a few assessments with the behavioural support worker who then took them back to their camhs nurse who scored them. We were told today that based on the scores my DS is now being referred to camhs for a tier 3 assessment. The 'results' that I have written down on the copy of the referral says this:

Conners Rating Scales:
ADHD Index - Teacher - 96% probability score
ADHD Index - Parent - 99% probability score
GADS Questionnaire - Score of 108
SCQ - 19

If anybody can give me some insight into what all this means as it's like a foreign language to me that would be great!

Thanks

  • Hi Lou

Thanka for the reply. I agree that they should have explained it a bit better but I think they probably didn't want to worry me. All she said was that it is a strong indicator that there is 'something' that needs exploring further but she said it could also mean nothing. Obviously when I see 'ADHD' and '99% probability' in the same sentence it is a strong indicator to me that my son has ADHD!

I was also told that the referral to camhs might not even be accepted. Has anyone had experience of this? I have 'known' for a long time that my son has problems and I just want to make sure that he is getting all the support he possibly can.

    thanks :-)
