I was stunned this morning (02 September); to receive a loyalty club email from a well known garden centre chain ...advertising the forthcoming opportunity to visit their in store SANTA'S GROTTO!

(For goodness sake, first let us first enjoy Autumn).

I doubt they are the only retailer this year hoping for more shoppers in store ... however, I cannot be the only customer definitely not wooed by news of Santa's Grotto on the 2nd of September.

what ever happened to Advent Calendars heralding the season?

    I've seen xmas stuff in shops already and they've been full of halloween stuff for a couple of weeks now.

    I know some people like to start buying early to help spread the cost, but you don't need xmas themed stuff yet, it takes all the joy out of it. I wish we hadn't imported all this halloween stuff from the States, we do have some of our own customs, but these get drowned out by all this Americana
