The bill has passed, now onto the HoL

THIS TREAD IS ABOUT THE ASSISTED DYING BILL.

I'm glad it's passed, I know any people will disagree, and I respect thier choice, as I can't take any pain killers except paracetamol, this bill gives me some comfort that when the end is in sight, I have some choices and hopefully won't have to depart before I'm ready.

  • In principle, I’m in favour of the bill, my only concern is that no elderly or terminally ill person feels they are a burden to their families and takes this route out of guilt.

From reading the timescale, it’s unlikely to become law at the earliest, until the end of 2027 and more likely late 2029.

I did watch a program following a person at a well known Swiss clinic, the whole process was filmed, to be honest it was quite horrific, they didn’t just go to sleep. I hope a more humane way is used if it becomes law here.
