What drinks do you drink?

My drink diet is so unhealthy.

I don't drink alcohol– I don’t like the taste –but regular drinks for me are coca cola like between 6-8 cans a day and that's causing my digestion to go through regular hell. I do drink milkshakes sometimes and squash but I'm not a huge fan of the taste, so back to the cola I go.

I've tried tea and coffee as well but I don't like either. I used to drink fruit shoots a lot but that was when I was little. Since I was in my teens I have drank mostly coca cola, occasionally I'll have a hot chocolate but not often.

My drinking has always been a bit like this. Flip side of the coin is I don't drink enough of anything and end up dehydrated, normally during summer though.

What about you guys?

What do you like drinking?

  • No, I buy it.

  • I really don't know if anyone likes the taste initially, I suppose that's why they invented alco-pops as a gateway drink.

For me it became a means to an end, a social lubricant if you will. Now I seldom drink and if I do it has to be something nice that I will actually enjoy.

For me smoking was something thing that everyone tried, I hated it and I still can't stand the smell. My grandma smoked and I constantly pestered her to stop (apparently from when I was three). She must have gotten tired of me putting up no smoking signs in her house, so she finally quit.

  • I used to hate diet coke for a deacde, but tried it again recently and its like a totally different drink. Weird that.

  • Every day, I down at least a liter and a half of Pepsi Max, and a minimum of two cups of coffee. It doesn't do anything other than make me tired, but it's part of my routine now. As far as alcohol goes, the only thing I like is cider. I have had gin, too, put I always mix it with Pepsi Max or something.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried diet coke before but I will be buying some in the future. I want to try and have a healthier drink diet.

  • 6-8 cans of Coke a day is a lot.

If it was Diet Coke then fair enough, but since its full fat sugar Coke that's really not good.

Switch some of them over to Diet Coke or even full fat Pepsi is a bit less sugary than Coke.

  • Sometimes it almost feels like i have an iv drip with Irn Bru extra!

Ha ha yes! This exactly! :D

It's good your drink has no sugar. Sugar and caffeine are my biggest problems to be honest, I'm in good health at the moment but one day it wouldn't surprise me if I was diagnosed with Diabetes in the end.

  • Ginger is really good for health. I have it sometimes if my tum is a bit off, and if I have a sore throat my mum makes me ginger tea which I'm not a massive fan of but it does seem to help a sore throat.

  • Thank you x.

  • All sounds nice :)

I've never liked the taste of alcohol. On my 18th B day I tried wine for the first time (YUCK!) and ever since whatever I try (normally on Christmas Day) it just tastes horrible. I'm glad you are enjoying the new discovered gin. My Grampy loves gin and whiskey.

  • I'm glad you recovered but sorry about the side effects. Hope it's all ok now.

    Wishing you the best x

  • I love hot chocolate with cream, that's a treat for me too. I normally have it once or twice in December.

Do you make your grape juice? Sounds yum.

  • It was a 'minor stroke' or 'lacunar infarction', not a TIA, on scanning there was an area of damage from a clot, but it was small and confined. My symptoms were confined to a droop to the side of my mouth and some speech problems, mostly pronouncing F and S sounds and a slight delay in producing what I wanted to say.

  • Was it a TIA or a full 'stroke'?

I had a relative who suffered circa 5 MAJOR strokes.......the interesting thing that I learnt from that relative was that some of the later strokes actually "corrected" some of the brain  damage caused by the earlier ones!!  Who knew!!!!

  • Excellent, and usefully relevant 'statements of fact' and 'public information' in there Martin.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • Actually that reminds me - I was drinking ceiery juice a few times a week for a couple of years there - it’s always been my spirit vegetable so to speak, the Fifth Doctor deffo pointed me in the right direction there! Must get back to that little health kick. But it’s still mostly tea that will run in my veins!

  • Aw thanks April, some DW fans find the lapel celery naff, but I will champion it to the day I die! Slight smile

  • In the morning I like a coffee, with flavoured coffee beans.

As a treat, hot chocolate with cream. The best hot chocolate is thick, like a pudding.

In the evening, red wine with dinner.

Currently I am making mulled dark grape juice. In the summer I like yoghurt drinks.

  • There’s much worse things you could be drinking so don’t give yourself to much of a hard time. You’ll get there one day! Slight smile

  • Hot drinks are strong black fresh ground coffee or week black tea. I tend to drink carbonated water during the day with maybe a glass of orange squash, I don't like cola drinks.

Alcohol wise, I don't drink that much anymore, the odd glass of red wine or a dark beer (often Belgian ), I've discovered a gin that I like, it's made by an Australian company Four Pillars, bloody Shiraz gin, it's really nice with some lemon tonic water and a slice of orange and ice, very tasty. I can't hack hangovers anymore so I don't over do it. (Like I used to)
