vibrations and sound proofing

Hello,

i am struggling with the planes going over my flat.  I hope to get ear plugs for the sound, by i can feel the vibrations hitting my body when i lie in bed.  does anyone have suggestions on how i can reduce the vibrations?

thank you

  • ummm...I don't suppose you could kindly ask Air Traffic Control to push your flat off of the runway and onto the grass ?

  • Ian is right about the low frequency stuff - but you can still distract your senses.

A friend of mine has a fan on all night. It faces away from him, but it generates a constant noise that means you can't hear thing like planes and cars as much. You can get used to a constant noise, though it's a bit disconcerting at first.

Try it! It may work for you too.

These are probably the low frequency vibrations that are being felt in your bones almost - they are not ones you can avoid by sound insulation due to the long wave nature of the frequency - you need meters thick of soundproofing to be effective.

I'm afraid moving house is pretty much the only cure.
