Always in pain but no cause

Hi I'm new here.

I'm always in pain usually in my abdomen and groin area. It comes and goes, sometimes lasting for ages. Last night it woke me up just gone 1 and I had pain in my abdomen and groin area, and then when I went to the toilet it hurt and burnt.

This isn't the first time. I've had this before, and been to the doctor's before and I had a urine infection the first time but the last couple of times I've had tests, bloods and scans, nothing showed up.

I saw the nurse practitioner this afternoon and she did a urine check, nothing in the urine dip. She read my records and didn't think we need to do any other checks.

Unsurprisingly this has left me feeling a little low and like I'm a time waster.

I genuinely feel unwell and in pain most of the time but nothing is ever found. I'm starting to worry that the doctors will think I'm messing them about.

And then I also worry that there's something seriously wrong but it has been a few years so I'm wondering if it's my anxiety making me think this way.

  • I've been there too. It's tough when you're in pain and the tests don't show much. Maybe consider a second opinion if it continues. Anxiety can amplify things, so don't be too hard on yourself. Keep pushing for answers.

  • If it’s abdomen pain have you looked into allergy or intolerance testing? Maybe it’s something like that? I know that can cause a lot of abdomen pain for some people. Maybe discuss with your GP?

is it worth starting writing down when the pain is at its worst, and what you were doing at the time, how you were feeling (like we’re you anxious or panicky or something) and what you’ve eaten to try and establish a pattern to it?

  • I'm so sorry your in pain and they haven't found the cause yet.

It doesn't mean your wasting there time how you feel is real and I'm sure if you keep pressing on at them they'll find what's causing it in the end

So I get a lot of pain espech muscle aches and after a lot of tests and going back and forth to the doctor and hospital I was eventually diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome.

  • I've had the same joint pain since a child. They said it was growing pains then and that it's stress/anxiety now, although they do say I'm slightly hyper mobile (last week I'm mid 40's) I suspect I damaged the joints when I was more hyper mobile. Turns out it was an autism win tho, cos I did my research properly and I've prevented it getting worse by figuring out my own physio.

  • Have they sent the urine to the hospital for a culture? Is it cloudy? If there definitely isn’t any bacteria (dipsticks only show a certain type I forget which now but it metabolises into nitrites which is what the dipstick picks up) and it burns to pee then maybe there is some other kind of inflammation, interstitial cystitis? That said if you have very tense muscles down below it can also cause discomfort

  • I never felt well. I was back and forth to the doctor for years, with abdominal discomfort, being tired, etc.Sometimes, twice in one week. Apart from an underactive thyroid, there was never anything wrong. I was exhausted, anxious, and overwhelmed, and orobabky just needed someone to talk to. What i have noticed recently, lpease accept my apologies if its 'too much info, but if i haven't been for a number 2, i feel dreadful. Just saying. Relaxed

  • Keep on at the GP their job is to support you no matter what and help you to find the cause of what's troubling you.

They have a duty of care and you definitely aren't a time waster so you make sure you're heard and supported. I went through similar for nearly eight years before being diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

There's always an answer but sometimes it takes a little time to find it.

  • I get a lot of pain and had tests but nothing ever showed up. For a while thought I was going crazy yu know JoyJoy

Turned out to be anxiety and oversensitivity to pain. Autism affects me in a lotta ways physically and mentally.

Just cause they haven't found anything don't mean your crazy or wasting there time. They just haven't found what's up yet BlushBlushBlush
