Witchcraft and the supernatural - experiences

Do you guys believe in anything like this?

If you have any experiences of witchcraft or the supernatural then I would love to hear it.

  • I’d like not to believe in it but experience tells me otherwise. I’ve seen both white and black witchcraft in action, as a scientist it defies my logic but the actual evidence clearly suggests there’s something there. Of course my sample size is statistically insignificant and correlation doesn’t necessarily prove causation but nevertheless I find myself rather frighteningly convinced

  • Essentially, for those of you familiar with the Discworld series, my approach to witchcraft is much like that. I'm a very "here's a potion I made from roots I dug up at midnight- okay fine yes it IS soup, eat up, it's good for you" sort of person. Curing scurvy with the magic of, er, vegetables.

100% agree - headology is the real magic.

  • Thank you both for sharing your opinions on this. My own thoughts are that I do follow that way of life as it helped me during a very dark and frightening time in my life. I will add to Debbie's thread later as it is an experience.

I respect all thoughts on this. Thanks for sharing yours.

  • I sort of believe in witchcraft, yes- in the sense that I think it's a good way to focus your mind on something and change your outlook, which can then lead to the change that you wanted to make by doing a spell or ritual. I think people have a need for ritual and meaning in our lives and if this is the way that works for someone, that's awesome. And then of course certain plants are medicinal- or very much NOT medicinal!- so there's that aspect of it as well which genuinely does have more than a psychological effect.

However, I don't believe in things like curses, or crystals curing terminal illness, or anything like that. It's more of a practice for personal growth for me.

  • What, witchcraft? Or the supernatural?

    Yes. And No.

Certainly there are people who consider themselves witches. I see the adherence to witchcraft as a quasi-religious belief, mainly. As to whether they can be effective in witchcraft- actually effective change with spells, who knows?

If I were to continue down that road we'd end up in the endless sea of metaphysics...

Yes, to the supernatural, but also No, because I think there's a natural explanation for everything.

It's just that our definition of reality probably needs to be expanded.
